190E alloys - straight swap to W124 or vice-versa?

As the question says - can a set of, say, 8 hole alloys be swapped between a W201 and a W124 and vice versa, without any issues e.g. spigot rings, spacers or anything?

I think not. So far as I know, the offset is very different.

They look like R129 16" wheels, which definitely do fit the 16v models of the w201 and were used on the 190E 2.5-16 EVO I cars.

I don't know for sure whether or not you can fit w124 wheels to a w201. What I do know is that the wheels for both cars were available in a bewildering array of sizes and even if they looked exactly the same, in many cases they were not.

The only sure way is to get a part number and ring a Mercedes dealer .. They're usually helpful !

Well I just assume they don't to be on the safe side, then if I buy the car and they do, that's a bonus. Haven't actually got a W124 either yet (still looking) so it might all be a moot point. A cheap 190E might be nice for the winter regardless of whether alloys fit or not. Keep the BMW E30 off the road.

Not sure about the wheels but I do know you need different bolts for steels and alloys - my old E220 had a steel spare and a little bag of bolts...

I've always considered them interchangeable. Standard 190E alloys are 6J, however, while standard W124 ones are 6.5J

If you use a set of Cosworth 7 x 15 alloys they work well on either car. They look like W124 flat-face alloys but I believe the "correct" 190E wheels have a lozenge-shaped hole cutouts whereas the W124 cutout is rectangular

So long as the offset is somewhere round 41-49 mm the wheels will be OK on a W124
