Dear all

I have a 2003 facelift CL500 and recently I've noticed that when I close the driver's door the windows don't pop back up behind the door seals the first time of asking and I have to open and close the door again for the windows to close behind the seals.

It seems odd that this fails consistently every 1st time and works OK consistently every 2nd time.

This seems more like a software / computer issue than a cabling one - but that's why I'm asking you guys as I don't reall have a clue...

Any ideas???

Thanks all

Nick

Had the same problem on my 2003CL just before I sold it, used to do it on passenger side
first, then ok , then both, ended up needing control unit in boot. around £600.00 from memory.

I suppose looking on the bright side I do have a warranty that would cover this...

Can the unit be repaired or do they just replace?

It's going in for an MOT tomorrow at Cardiff and Newport Mercedes Benz - I'm not going to mention it and I'm wondering whether it'll be picked up (and if it is - whether it would result in an MOT failure)??

Will have to wait and see I guess...

The MOT won't pick it up.

An observant technician carrying out the MOT may make an advisory note of it but the MOT test doesn't care if you even have windwos, let alone ones that close properly.

They sorted it out for me...

Basically they reset the window position - opened the window then hold the switch down for 2 seconds until a click is heard - then raise the window right up hold the switch down again for a couple of seconds until the click.

This apparently re-teaches the car the extents of the window...

It worked and no need to replace any expensive parts :-)

Oh and it passed the MOT with no advisories.
