W202 starting problem

Strange one this; when cold, sometimes the motor refuses to start, but leave it for 15 mins and after a lot of churning it reluctantly starts. It's a C220 CDi by the way. Drive a mile or so and stop, same problem, but never when hot. Took it to a specialist who said two injectors needed changing (130,000 miles) due to compression loss. £1,000 later same problem is still there. It certainly seems like a fuelling issue, but what's causing it?

Could be an issue with air entering the fuel system?

i'd certainly be looking at renewing all the o-rings on all of the fuel lines. They are very prone to going hard & brittle & then allowing air to enter the system which in turn causes poor starting. Just get someone to crank the engine whilst you look at the clear fuel lines situated by the fuel filter - you'll probably see small air bubbles passing through the fuel line which usually indicates a defective seal somewhere allowing air to be sucked into the fuel line.
