We've been through this before, in fact only a couple of weeks ago. It's not cloth, it's velours. It was standard on the 600. Leather was a no cost option. Until the mid-80s, velours was considered superior to leather. Velours is much more luxurious than leather but it can wear more quickly and when worn looks nasty.
