E Class auto box

Hopefully someone will be able to help with this one.

My mate has a 2000 E320 with a busted auto box. I have an E300 auto with a busted engine.

Does anyone know if my gearbox will fit his car?

Is the E300 a Diesel? If so I'd expect the ratios and torque convertor will be different. The engines have very different rev limits

Do a VIN lookup on both and google the gearbox codes. You may be able to find ratios & other info. A tame gearbox specialist may be able to help if you have the codes
