SL55 Supercharger pully

Hi all,

My supercharger pulley has started making a fair bit of noise recently and I feel its on its way out. Does anyone know if this can be changed at home and if not how much would a specialist charge to replace it?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

What sort of a noise is it making? Grinding?

It's hard to describe but sounds like a swooshing type belt noise. It was silent before and quietens as it warns up.

How can I tell if it's on it way out?

Noises from the supercharger pulley on these models is quite a common fault

It could be that its just a bearing in the pulley that is going out. However, That usually makes more of a grinding noise. Or If its more of a chirp/squeak sound then it could just be a case of applying some stop squeal solution to the pulley

I think it could be the bearing and it does squeak a little but do the bearings just suddenly fail or can i get away with running it for a little longer?

I have a great service centre near me that i'll use but just wondered if its a home fix.

I suppose you could get away with running it for a week or so longer but I would recommend getting it looked at

If it is the bearing (which I think it most probably is) then you could do it at home, Depending on how good you are with a spanner – I’m sure there is a guide online somewhere
