Hi guys - i have had a bit of sewing machine noises on start up in the morning and it seems that this debris or tappit/lifter issues. however, the noise is sound continuous not just at cold start in the mornings. i have looked in my service book and it would appear i am 1300 over the next service. questions:-

1. i am not pushing the car hard but will i damage it driving more?
2. do you reckon a service and oil change will sort it?
3. i am told sea foam works a treat if put into the oil???? anyone tried it

Personally I would take it to a dealer or at least a MB specialist for advice on the issue. Does not sound good and I would stay away from any additives yoou would only be quietening an issue that requires resolve.

As Ken above, i would take it to a stealer or a reputed Indie. You may get some more help from slkworld.com

How many miles have you done on the oil that's in there now? If it's a fair few then a good flush through with fresh oil may free up things. Good idea to do what others have suggested as well though and drop it into a stealers for a quick listen.
