I have an 02 S-class 320 that I bought a couple of months ago. Really pleased with it in every aspect except for one minor niggle - the sat nav is positioning me approx 35 miles away from actual position ! This only started a couple of weeks ago - up until then it had worked perfectly well. Can anyone suggest a way to correct the problem ?

Thanks for yuor help.

I had a similar problem a while ago with my CLS - turned out that the GPS antenna had failed, so the car was instead using only the road speed signal and internal gyro (which are normally used just to compensate for poor GPS reception in cities, tunnels, etc). On my car, whilst the fault was present, if I switched the display to show lat/long position and number of satellites locked on, the satellite count showed a dash rather than a number, which indicates the system isn't receiving anything from the antenna - might be a good place to start looking?

IIRC when connected up to STAR, the fault code was "GPS antenna open circuit" or something similar.

Hope that helps!

Almost certainly the GPS antenna. The good news is that it is an easy and not overly expensive fix. I used Richard at www.commandonline.co.uk and would highly recommend him. Very helpful and knowledgable, and great value for money. He is a regular poster on the MB Club website under the name of Alfie.
