Diesel particulate filters

Can anybody tell me what year these were introduced across the diesel range in Mercedes please? I'm thinking specifically of CLS, C & E Class range.

I'll be interested to see whether anyone can answer this. My dealer couldn't even tell me whether all new ones had them when I enquired about 3 years ago. The promised 'get back to me' never materialised, so I bought a new petrol elsewhere.

I know some manufacturers offered them as optional extras before they became std fit, in the same way as some did with cats. when they first appeared. That might also be an issue.

I dont know why DPF's should worry anyone. So long as you get the engine up to full running temp at least once a week you shouldnt have an issue.

That's just the point though, I might not use it for long runs that often. Problem is I have a couple of other cars that will also be used quite frequently. I really want another newish diesel Merc but don't want the hassle of having to take it for a long run every week just to keep the DPF clear.
