Smart fortwo second hand purchase advice/guide

Firstly, apologies if this is in the wrong place- could not see a Smart sub forum, but pls redirect if i missed it!

I am looking to get a used Fortwo as a run around and was wondering if anybody knows of a good guide to buying a second hand one or has any tips?

I have read elsewhere that the engines so have a more limited shelf life, often needing a rebuild by 100k, but was wondering if there is anything else particularly important to bear in mind?

Not to fussed about specifications (whether passion, pulse etc), as it is a second car and i will likely only have it for 6-12 months, but want to make sure i do not pick up a gremlin whilst bargain hunting!

Best advice.....don't. Crash damage is too easily hidden with plastic panels, and mechanically they fall apart after 3-4 years use. Over priced fashion accessories.....
