Is the W203 prone to rust? Found some on the inner edge of a wheel arch today? Need to check the handbook but I presume they get a 10yr guarantee? If so would this be covered?

The pre facelift ones can. The mobilo life (body warranty) requires continuous Mercedes dealer service history, before they start arguing about the rust.

Our 2002 W203 (garaged, clean as a whistle?) is truly shocking rust wise.

When it comes to the W203, run rather than walk...What Ive seen it shocking, much rather have the W211 Facelift. THAT is a proper car. in 388 bhp 500 guise its a lovely vehicle.

It depends how early it was made. The post facelifted cars are much better. No sign of any on my April 2006 Sport Coupe.

In that case it was galvanised.

I noticed 2 very small areas of rust on both rear wheel arches. Mercedes warranty is 3 years plus 5 years goodwill. Car has to have been serviced as scheduled etc. I took mine along to the approved bodyshop and after they photographed every service done and my V5, Merc Germany approved the repair.

Thanks for that. It's going in today for a B service so will point it out and wait to see what they say. It's an approved used MB car so with full stealer SH so should be fine.
