Hi
Beware anyone looking at purchasing 2007/2008 E200, the bearings in the Differential are going at around 90000km. Mercedes looking for over €3000.00 for a replacement unit.
This is not a new problem 2004 and 2005 cars had a lot of problems.

Mercedes are not what they used to be, the quality is now in the showrooms and not in the cars.

Motor Distributors are washing their hands and not assisting owners. Bottom line is these differentials are not fit for purpose and Mercedes should accept their responsibilities.

Please pass the word around.

I'm not sure that's entirely fair.
Maybe Mercedes has a bad patch from late 90's to early 00's, say 2004, but they sorted a lot of the E class issues out on the facelift E of late 06.

I'm not aware of any issues on the later (W211) Mercs.

My 2007 E220. 370k miles - two wheel bearings and a couple of injector seals, bottom ball joint that's it apart from normal wear and tear items such as disks, pads etc. (upper ball joints to be replaced next service)

This strikes me as a bizarre post ;

I have never heard of such an issue , although thats not to say one doesn't exist , but it certainly isn't widespread .

I've not heard of a differential which can't be rebuilt either .

OP , perhaps you can explain / evidence your claim . You may even make 4 posts in 5 years !
