Thanks for the feedback on the wheel size choices.

Couple more questions for c63 owners.
1. Remmaps.has anyone had any issues with remap detection effecting warranty work?
2. Tyre wear. Has anyone adjusted the rear toe settings and seen a marked change in grip or tyre wear?

Thanks again for sharing your experiences.

Can't answer for the C63, but i've always mapped turbo petrol and diesel cars, the results are staggering, but N/A means there are little gains to be had and i just wouldn't bother...........never had it detected either, most of the time the oiks in dealers are not looking for code anomalies and if they did would they recognise it.....there's always a chance but it's very very slim IMO.

Re the toe change, unless you're looking for more toe in for track use i couldn't see the point and it won;t be good on the road and will chew tyres IMO

Thanks tafracer.

i ssee you ordered one too. If you search under c63 tyre wear you will see that for "reasons of safety" Merc sets the c63 up with LOADS of toe in on this car. This normally gives better traction but on a race car, lower top speed on straights because of the extra drag.
In a road car it leads to better traction but accelerated tyre wear.

regarding the remaps..you can buy
Mercedes 30hp upgrade. Remap (makes the power) + crank rods an pistons (irrelevant to power)
Brabus upgrade 1. 525hp for a remap and airfilters.
brabus upgrade 2. 1 + Race cats
DMS EVOLVE etc. remap 525hp

so there are easy gains with the c63 because its been artificially restricted by merc for...
Marketing/temperature management/retained ability to charge 5k to restore the power that the engine produces in other cars.

can't wait to get my car.....

interesting.....if there is that much to be gained then i'd say it's well worth it, but i thought all the other cars with this sort of power had the internal upgrades as well, if not then it;s free power, if so then it's potentially an issue with longevity

The remap allows the throttle to open 100% throughout the rev range so no issues on longevity. The same engine in the e63 etc makes 507hp stock...the c63 remap is effectively restoring to oem settings For that engine

The e60 m5 has 2 modes achieved through simple throttle mapping. P400 and p500.
Apparently mini do the same.

IMHO, I would get the car first before investing in remaps.

Mine is a PP+ car with Drivers pack and I was originally looking to remap it too. However, The more I drive it the more the issue is more about grip and the ability to put the bhp to the floor rather than having more.

Not sure about the same engine as the E63, as I am sure when the DR520 was developed by MBUK, they worked on some of the internals to be able to free up the extra power.

The amount of torque the car has, already means that acceleration from stationary is an issue with regards grip.

My advice would be to drive it and run it in correctly then get the thing to handle better before going for a remap.

Have you got the Performance Pack Plus which gives the 30bhp uplift option?

When I learned how the engine is artificially restricted I decided the pp was pretty poor bang per buck, so I didn't tick that box.

What bhp uplift are Brabus guaranteeing for the remap?

The PPP is supposedly conservatively quoted at the 30bhp increase. Palmball had a PPP car which dyno'd at 507bhp standard. He then bought the Brabus remap which only nudged it to 511bhp. The DR520 merely had this same Brabus remap on top of the PPP engine.

Given the cost of the Brabus remap, Palmball quickly got a refund and went for cat/headers mods instead which freed up more power.

I have the PPP in standard form and at a recent track day was pulling away from a 600+bhp E55 AMG on the straights. But as mentioned, below about 50mph, the narrow rear tyres just cannot cope and you either light them up or the ESP calms things down.

However it sounds great in any form!

Indeed, the c63 has incredibly skinny rear rubber... not good when trying to put 490ps down on a slightly damp curved slip road as I found out !! Do the rear rims take a wider tyre, or does it require new rims ?

yeah, the front tyres on my X6 are wider than the C63's rears.....they are insanely small for the Power IMO, its part of the reason why i wanted the LSD

Brabus say 525hp.
i am not surprised that a remapped pp car won't gain much above the pp, as the pp probably includes the standard e63 throttle opening.....just like all the others.

Are there and evolve or dms customers frequenting the forum who are willing to share their experience? DMS have done "hundreds" of c63s.

You can fit 265s on the rear without any hassle. That gives you a wider choice too like pilot supersports.
