sold the range rover SC and have considered an 07/08 S320 cdi in AMG form of course.

Anyone care to share ownership on these? What is the typical spec of an s320 as ive not been in a merc since my old s320.

There isn't an 'AMG' model of any S-Class, except for the 63/65. You can have AMG bodystyling which gives you a slightly more agressive front/rear bumper and some side-skirts and you can add 19 or 20 inch AMG alloys.

The options I would say are critical in any S-Class are:

Wood trim upgrade - the original is pretty much orange and horrible to look at.
Alloy Wheel upgrade - the same reason as above except for the orange bit!
Memory Seats
Heated Seats

Everything else is just a nicety really, and shouldn't add/detract a great deal from the selling price; the 'right' colour combinations are pretty important, with black/black still being a popular choice - I like black with balck/sahara beige interior, but I think they brought that out a bit later on.

Obviously a full history, ideally main dealer is a must, but they are on the whole pretty reliable and IMO superb with the 3.0 diesel engine.

Good luck.

There was an option to have Harman/Kardon surround sound on the cars, but the basic sound system isn't too bad anyway. Comand is standard on all of them, telephone pre-wire was an option on the earlier models and you would need a cradle for the phone to work, on the latest 350cdi models the bluetooth is standard. If you mean the display in the centre of the speedo then this is standard on all models also.
