swapping W124 estate door cards for saloon?

Can anyone tell me if W124 saloon rear door cards will fit rear doors on a w124 estate? I assume fronts are the same?

According to the Electronic Parts Catalogue, they are different. Certainly part numbers of cards used on the saloon are not used on the estate and vise-versa. This does not mean they are not interchangeable with a little effort.

Its the speakers that generate the different part numbers, I know a few owners go the other way (estate to saloon) for the additional speakers so as far as I know they are.

The bottom half of the door certainly looks the same shape.

Academic now as the E300 saloon I had my eye on is sold. Probably a daft idea anyway - swap front seats and all 4 door cards from a very cheap 1991 300 saloon with mushroom leather into my 1989 300TE, and also swap my 4 spare steel rims for the 4 X 15 hole alloys off the saloon and sell the saloon on again.

I suppose it would have compromised my 300TE by adding later bits and been a waste of of a decent 300 saloon. It really did look amazing for the money, pity I couldn't justify owning a very nice nautic blue 300 saloon with mushroom leather for a ridiculous price.

Perfectly sensible idea. The sort of thing I invest in all the time. Think of the hours of fun you could have had looking for mushroom leather rear seats for the estate car. Given that these cars fail on bodywork, and given how much cheaper wrecked saloons are than wrecked estates, I can see your logic.

Should have bought the car 1st and though it about it 2nd!

Real problem is storage as I can just about shoe-horn the 300TE, BMW E30 and Citroen C1 into the driveway, definitely no room for anything else, and the saloon had no tax. Parking the 300TE on the street was the idea, and maybe the C1 temporarily too - but some utterly worthless individual keyed the 300TE 2 weeks ago (and my A4 a year or so ago, along with 2 or 3 other neighbours' cars) so the street is now 'out of bounds' for anything other than a snotter.

If it is any consolation , the saloon rear bench seat would not replace the individual folding seats in the estate .

That was another consideration. I know it wouldn't fit and I'd be left with an estate with leather in front and cloth in the back - so that's another reason why I hesitated.
