Auxiliary heater W210

I have an 03 E320 CDI estate and the auxiliary diesel heater has stopped working. Anybody got any ideas? Also the cruise control has a habit of turning itself off at higher road speeds for no reason....the local independent had absolutely no idea and claimed that he checked everything and replaced the switch.

All ideas appreciated....

2003 W210?.. I thought it was the 211 by 2003..

anyway, I have a 2001 W210 E320CDi. I ended up taking it to my merc-indie because I thought my boost heater wasn't working.

Turned out it was fine.. just didn't produce very much heat. Problem is these days they are electric, not diesel fueled, so they stuff your MPGs and give off very little heat. (at best they work out about 30% efficient, possibly much less)

No I think it must be the last of the W210`s. I am told by the local dealer that it has packed up and that do I want them to look at it?

I haven't bothered using mine, it's so inefficient and doesn't make a large difference to cabin temperature. It all depends on where you live, I'm in the south of the UK, and things rarely get that cold (we had -10C a few times this winter but that was exceptional)

If you need the engine to warm up a bit quicker you could concider a partial grille block. The grille is designed to allow enough air to cool a V8 petrol engine. The diesels need less than half that total cooling due to higher efficiency, I've run mine with a 90% block of the upper grille for many months with no issues (left the bottom 10% of the upper grille open to leave the auto box cooling pipes exposed.) it made quite a difference to warm up time.

Thank you for that may give it a go......all the same I would like to find out more about it. Love the old girl and she is in fine order so want it to work if I can.
