New E250cdi Estate any good??

Hello Mercedes people

We are looking to change her car for an E250cdi avantgarde,been offered a decent pcp and she was happy with test drive but need to know if they are any good from the PH select

I've had one since July 2010.
It is quite pleasant to drive, very comfortable and has decent performance. However mine has the old 5-speed automatic gearbox, which is very slow to react. I've driven an 8-speed automatic and that really transforms the car.
I've had no real realibilty problems, but Mercedes still seems to suffer from the occasional electric glitches : airconditioning, radio, electric windows, electric tailgate, satnav... they all went bonkers at one time, but have repaired themselves after a while.

Seems to be some big discounts on E estates presently , dirvethedeal.com had £12k off the E350 avant estate if I remember the email correctly

can anybody tell me what extra spec is on a "125" edition avantgarde as opposed to standard avantgarde E250 estate?

125 had navigation as standard

, but Nav 50, not COMAND - not a sleight against Nav 50, I've no idea what it's like.

My car is an avantgarde 125, but car had been upgraded to COMAND, so the 125 is meaningless, as it doesn't say 125 anywhere on the car, and the spec is otherwise the same as a standard avantgarde - in short, don't pay more just because it's a 125 as if it has some form of nav its just as good anyway!

P.S. to answer your original question, yes, they're very good! I've had mine for a few months now and clocked up about 4k miles, I'm delighted with it - well built, creak free, no glitches or problems, smooth, quiet and refined. I've driven it to the South of England and back to Scotland over the last week and it's such a nice long distance cruiser, with decent handling and roadholding in the twisty bits coming back through the Scottish borders.
