C220 minor faults

One of my pals jst bought 2001 deisel model of this car but he's havin trouble with the front driver seat electrics and the fuel gauge doesn't work. Are these typical problems for this car and are they easy to fix? Thanx.

Hi, front seats are prone for blowing 30amp fuse in rear sam (fuse box) in boot on left hand side. The top 2 fuses (green 30amp)are the fuses which control the left & right seat electrics. The common fault why they blow is due to the wiring in the back of the seat rubs through & shorts against the metal seat frame causing the fuse to blow. Its a fairly easy repair but you will need to remove the seat back trim panel & probably the outer side trim panel to release the wiring & make a repair.
Regards your fuel guage fault whats it exactly doing ? There were problems with the fuel tank senders (your car has 2 as it has a saddle tank). It could be a case that the coding in the rear sam control module is wrong as you need to tell it whether it has a new or old style type tank sender fitted. This will then hopefully give you a true indication on your fuel guage as to exactly how much fuel you have. The only way you'll check the coding is to plug it onto the proper Merc computer & then check & correct the coding if necessary.

New coupe here, four months old and getting a constant low cooling level warning light! Going in Friday for a Mercedes amended upgraded part-why the fk wasn't it fitted with it from new?

Also has a rattle on exhaust which is coming from middle of car. Technician said he had no idea so they are putting a new centre section on!

Four months old-not impressed so far for Mercedes ownership, my previous Audi had nothing go wrong in Four years of ownership!
