Hope someone can help

As well as getting some welding done to jacking points etc on a w124 estate I also want to do some further rustproofing of sills, arches front wings etc etc.

I want to remove most or all of the rubber bungs that run along the underside of the body to get an extension lance in to spray Dinitrol around etc. They are about 30mm in diameter and I think there's about 6 or 8 each side plus what looks like another couple in each rear arch.

I tried to remove 2 of them the other day and they basically disintegrated. After 16 years they're brittle and fragile so I assume I'm going to have to throw away any that I remove.

So - does anyone know where I can get them? Would the main dealer stock them and would they charge a daft price for a few bits of rubber?

Cheers

The dealer will sell them although they are hard to identify on the EPC. They should be peanuts to buy. This site is good for prices: www.mercedes-benz-parts.co.uk if you have the part number it will give you the dealer price inc VAT.

Thanks R129.

Unfortunately I couldn't find anything like it on that site and the local MB main dealer is struggling to find them on their system too. They're still trying though.

Amazing how a daft thing like a few small bits of rubber can keep a car off the road. Can't drive it with a series of 30mm holes in the floor, at least not in the rain (which, of course, is all the time).

Have found a few similar bungs on the internet which would probably do the job, but we're talking bags of 100 or minimum order of £50, that sort of thing. I'll keep looking. If it comes to it I can glue the ones I've removed back together and smother the whole area in underseal, rather have all new ones though.

Up to my eyes, but when I get a chance I'll have a look on the EPC to see if I can find them.

I came home to find another e-mail from the dealer with a diagram of what looks like the right thing, so I'l ring him in the morning.

Really appreciate the offer of help, thanks a lot, but don't spend any time on it.

Cheers

John

ETA - dealer seems to have found them at last - £7.80 for a pack of 5.
