I'm viewing an ML63 AMG today and have been looking at them for a while. This is definitely the 'right' ML63 AMG I'm off to look at, but I am still wary about running this car without manufacturers warranty.

If there are any owners/prevous owners outh there what has been your expererince in terms of reliability and maintenance costs?

I realise these are seriously expensive to own in terms of fuel, brakes, tyres etc... I want to get an idea of unexpected costs and any common faults.

Also, if people recommend a warranty, what warranty providers would you suggest?

Many thanks!

I've just bought one after a long search, these are quite rare to find and especially if you want a high spec car as I did.... I did my homework on these as I was also looking at Cayenne Turbo and Rangerover Sport....

I could not find any scary stories on these, the only "must" is to have the gearbox flushed and filter renewed at around 35k miles.

I've had AMG's before and yes you pay that little extra but it's similar servicing to a ML500 although as you say brake discs/pads are expensive... A minor service being around £3-400 and a major £6-700, obviously brake fluid and gearbox oil change extra....
From memory on my 05 CLK55 Cabriolet I paid 1k for front discs and pads, I'd presume the ML to be similar.

My previous to this car was a 911 and my ML is as quick as that easily, a joy to drive, fully loaded, although I'm very friendly with the local Super Unleaded supplier....

If your local to me I'd more than happy meet up if you want a look.....

Regards Greg

Thanks for the reply Greg, I've bought one this weekend to be collected next week.

I saw the car on Thursday and it's like new.

However, it isn't new and is no longer in warranty so I'm debating the third party warranty route after lots of thread research on here. It isn't eligible for a MB extended warranty for a 'technical' servicing routine reason, so it's third party or take the risk. I'm looking at £1300 p.a. for a decent level of cover with warranty wise.

Any thoughts Greg?

To answer the last post, I'm expecting between 12-15 mpg at best.

Hi Oli - Excellent, my son has nick-named mine "Peperami" for the obvious reasons.. So whats the spec etc

Since i've had mine ive averaged 19 mpg with mixed driving, i didnt buy it to worry about fuel, i fill up weekly and spend £110 to fill it up... i dont really look at home many miles it does, I drive it and enjoy it...

As for Warranty, ive heard some stories about Quentins Warranty Wise... I have a Tier 1 Mercedes years warranty on mine which i will extend when it expires...

Lifes too short......
