NOw we've finally settled on the new car for the wife (ML63) my eyes are onto the next toy for me - I'm stuck between an SL63 or an SLS. What are your thoughts?

I thought the exact same thing up until I saw one in the metal - the pictures really do not do it justice.

Main axis for me would be the difference between the two motors. That 6.3 is a beast and sounds so much better than the new 5.5L bi-turbos......I guess the proof is in the driving. Not that there are any SL63s in dealers here in Houston at the moment.

the SLS's 6.3 has a proper dry sump, unlike any other 6.3 in any other MB.

SL63 is bloated, big arsed, wide mouth and plain over designed.

I drove one a few weeks ago - the new SL63 that is. The car is huge compared to the old one and has a lot of overhang which especially at the front seems odd. Car feels really big for a roadster but I assume the SLS will feel similar. The engine for me is too hard sounding for an SL. I'd go for the SL65 which will be more refined and have 'adequate' HP. wink I also wasn't particularly impressed with the fit and finish particularly on the interior. Go and try one out for yourself I'd suggest only way to decide.

Thanks for all the input, chaps. I guess the SLS is undeniably the better looking of the too, and given the climate here I'm likely to enjoy the gullwing doors (which I love) much more than the folding hardtop.

I wonder how the forthcoming Black Series SLS will affect residuals.

Don't even think about it, the Black will £250k at least.
Also if you are talking about the new Bi Turbo SL63, add a kleemann performance upgrade and an SLS
will not see which way you went!!
