Additional key/keyfob for A Class required

Hello all,
I'm collecting an '08 plate A Class from an independent dealer on Friday. The car however only has 1 keyfob and I want to obtain a spare keyfob.
Would be grateful for any recommendations/advice on walking into a Mercedes dealership to do this vs. pre-buying a blank spare from ebay and ask them to programme that fob?
Is there any other option such as using an independent company to do this for a cheaper price that I should consider?
Likely costs would be helpful if anyone has them to hand..

The advice I got was don't buy from ebay as they usually cannot be programmed.
I was looking around for a cheaper alternative than a main dealer and found that even the merc approved independent garages charge the same as the dealer. The only difference was the 'labour' to programme the key.
Try AAMerctech in Hoddesdon, Google it. I got a quote from them recently to change the locks on my C Class, it got stolen, and they came in cheaper than my local dealer, but only for the labour. The parts were exactly the same price. They are a Merc approved independent and are able to do all servicing using Merc parts and link into the Merc servicing system. I'm planning to use them when mine needs it's first service.

Appreciate the reply, the car is located in the Midlands so to far to follow up on yor rrecommendation. Tried the local Mercedes dealer and they are asking for £258
.
Will call a couple of other garages to see if there are any alternative quotes from Merc dealers in the region...

I've heard of this company, but honestly can't remember if it was in a good or bad light, I'd google a bit but on my iPhone at the moment!

Personnally i'd recommend buying the key through your main dealer or independant Mercedes specialist & get them to disable the key tracks for the missing keys otherwise if the unthinkable happens & someone has themissing key for your car & see's it they can open it & drive it away. By providing all current keys with your car a dealer or independant specialist will be able to identify the keys in use & then block out any existing key tracks that will stop any lost keys from working. If you were to come across the lost keys your main dealer can obtain what they call a green key which they can then use to reactivate the key track &allow the key to work again.
My point is though if you pay top money for a new key ask them to deactivate the lost keys tracks in the price of the new key. This way you'll have piece of mind if someone else has got a key to your car they cant get into it or start it.

I'm currently in the process of getting this done. My car got stolen, with key, and dealer is sorting this out. Not cheap. Need to get new key. Detach old key and lock barrels replaced on boot, drivers door and glovebox too. £878 inc labour from main dealer!!
