Ha ha!. He previously had an SL55Amg which I think is a great looking car. But somehow the SLS was very disappointing. Also the first one I'd seen (more Marina vans in Suffolk than SLS's).
Never jealous, always looking to see what I might be buying in ten years time when they're cheap. Won't be this SLS. Any of the 55 AMG Ks? Yes. Aston Martin? I wish.

Right, I'm off to sell mine - some bloke from Suffolk thinks they're uncool and that I might look a bit embarrassed driving it - the shame of it, the ridiculous doors and the proportions, what was I thinking!

Seriously though; beauty is in the eye of the beholder. How many times on here have people offered the advice ‘just buy the car you want’. Personally, I’m not a huge fan of the SL, but that’s just me.

Like it or not I think you have to tip your hat to Mercedes for being daring enough to design and manufacture a car with gullwing doors, a 6.2L V8, and with that ridiculously long bonnet and short rear end, those big slashed side-vents, and to let you have it in red with red leather should you wish.
What's the alternative, an 'M' BMW which is a saloon/coupe with a big engine and big wheels, a black on black 911, how dull!
disclaimer - I'd have an M3/M5/M6 or 911 in a heartbeat, dull as they may look from the outside

It is a seriously good car. I promise.
It's definitely a Grand Tourer as opposed to an out-and-out sports car, but I really like it. It's not as 'obvious' as some cars at this price point, but it is full of character and it makes a fantastic noise! It's easily quick enough (3.7 to 60mph and 197mph top speed - limited by tyres) and I've had an almost unanimously positive response from people when I'm out and about in it.
The doors are surprising practical as they only extend 14" from the body which means it is actually easier to park and get out in parking spaces than it would be with conventional doors (like on the convertible).
I hope I have done something to dispel the myths…but taste is entirely personal and so I'm happy to listen to decent. What really matters is I like it.

During a rest bite from looking at the PH cars at the Sunday Service meet at MBW I went up to the AMG floor. They had a stunning SLS AMG convertible in white but they also had an equally stunning SL63 AMG. I suppose the SLS isnt to everyones taste and I suppose the price premium is just too much for certain people to accept so they become negative towards it.
