Go to a decent independent specialist (not an MB dealer, they know jack about these cars). If you are lucky it will be a simple code reset, if you are unlucky (if you jump started the car, or used anything but a very good quality charger) you will need a new roof ecu.
R129's are notoriously sensitive to battery voltage.
Good luck!

I've come across this fault several times & this repair method usually works but i can't guarantee it. As previously said the 129 Sl is very sensitive to battery voltage & doesn't like being jump started etc. What i have found is that if you make sure the key is out of the ignition & kept in your pocket, remove the rear seat base by pressing the red tabs in located on each side in front of the seat base & then lift the seat base up & remove. Then on the drivers side under the seat base you'll see the roof control module, it has to big electrical plugs connected to it. Undo the 10mm nuts holding the control module down & release the roof control module, ensuring you make a note of where the earth strap was connected & secured. disconnect the electrical plugs from the control module & leave disconnected for about 60 seconds. then reconnect the control module & resecure it ensuring earth strap resecured. Switch on ignition & try the roof, if your lucky all should be good & it should work again. If all ok refit rear seat base.
If your unlucky then chance sare you'll need new roof control module or you could get it repaired as there are now compaines that can do this if you search the web. Try this link www.bba-reman.com/uk
Hope this is of help & good luck.
