Auto Windscreen Wipers Fault

Hi my girlfriend has a 2005 CLK320 CDI which I bought back in May. Everything has been fine until the last few weeks when the auto windscreen wiper function has developed a mind of its own. When it is dry the windscreen wipers go off more often than not when taking a sharp corner, especially coming off roundabouts. The screen looks clean in front of the sensors. Is there anything I can try to resolve the problem other than take it to a garage?
Also whilst I am posting is anyone able to tell me how to set the parking assist to drop the passenger's side wing mirror when selecting reverse. The option is not presented to me on the dash when following Mercedes' handbook. I had read that it may have been de-activated as it is prone to faults. Is that possible and can it be undone?

Is the selector switch on the mirror set to the nearside? I seem to remember that this function only works if it is, i.e. not in the middle or offside.You can remove the sensor and surround, behind the interior light thing.
It may have become dislodged and as you turn a corner it upsets the sensors. They also control the lights, if fitted, so you can check they work by covering the sensors up.
Next thing is to get the sensors re-calibrated. Seriously.
As there are different types of tint on Mercs they need to calibrate the sensors, especially if your windscreen has recently been replaced, only Merc can do this but if you're screen has been replaced whoever replaced it will cover the costs.
