- My SLK 230 sometimes wont change up on "kick down" and has a flat spot kind of feel also it can sometime hold a gear for longer than you would expect before changing down ?
I think it could be a simple fix as it drives fine otherwise - most of the time.

Any ideas ?

Cheers
Steve

Common problem. MAF sensor has become contaminated with oil due to the crankcase breather system blocking at the inlet manifold. You need a new MAF sensor and you need to clean out the breather nozzles at the inlet manifold, not an easy job.

Thanks for the reply
I suspected the MAF sensor for some time and have cleaned it with no real improvement.
This breather problem - does the manifold need to come off to clean it or is there an easier way?

There's a bit of dismantling required. There are extensive instructions in the Mercedes-Benz Club technical archive. An experienced and confident DIYer could do it but a beginner might be out of his depth.
