Has been discussed at length on the MB forums, apparently two years ago the same car sold for £30k, so the feeling is the price is somewhat speculative. Its also been for sale for some time, which kind of confirms the price point.

Actually over the past few years I've seen 3 or 4 listed in Japan classifieds for around £30k (in USD), as well as some SL70's. There was one on JamesList for a ridiculous 90k Euro's or something near that a while back.

There was a window of opportunity for these cars, but now prices have firmed up pretty sharpish.

There was a mint (and authentic semi-series production) SL73 AMG for sale by Daimler advertised on mobile.de about a year ago and the asking was 75,000euros.

Five years ago the exchange rate made SL73s for sale in Japan look very reasonable. Exchange rate movement alone means they are now 70%+ more expensive in sterling terms.

When they've come to the market they've typically been priced at JPY 7-9 million depending on mileage.
