Luggage Compartment Hinges

Hello guys,

I was chatting with my friend the other day when he said that he got a bump on the head from his boot lid closing on it due to the hinges failing.

I didnt think this was possible as I thought it would have hydruallics in there somewhere.

Has anyone heard of the boot lid hinges and failing??
