£1000 Discount on C Class NOT Available on AMG: A Con

According to Mercedes;

"Throughout December, selected** Approved Used C-Class models up to 3 years old come with a tempting offer..

• C-Class Saloon or Estate models registered on or after 1 September 2009 and which are over 90 days old from date of first registration."

I have been negotiating for a few days to buy a C63 AMG and this morning Mercedes UK say "This doesn't apply to AMG cars". They accept that it doesn't say that anywhere in their advert, they just don't want to pay up.

They are not fulfilling their own advert, which I am afraid is just wrong.

Yes, big discounts, but finally bought a 6 month old one, every option (spec'd new to just short of £70k) 5k miles for under 50k.

Wrote to Advertising Standards Authority yesterday (as there was no contact number on the site I could see), they agreed that as it was worded it was misleading and contacted Mercedes (UK). This morning Mercedes (UK) agreed to correct the advert and gave me a retrospective discount of £1,000. Result in record time. Truly surprised at how easy it was to get it sorted.

Sadly every individual needs to be aware of the propensity of scams in business and in their private lives. I am glad your complaint was resolved so quickly.
