Looking for a SLK 55 AMG
Discussion
Hi All, I am newly in the market for an SLK 55 AMG. I have seen one for sale here:
http://www.edwardscarcompany.co.uk/used-cars/merce...
It has most options and the mileage seems average for the year. Does anyone have any thoughts on the car/price/any thing to look out for etc? I know front disks cost a bomb, so that would be one of the things on my check list! Any thoughts greatly welcomed.
Thank you.

I just spent the last 6 months looking for the right car there quite rare.
This one is being sold by a friend of mine it's a great spec and Pat has solved the brake problem already.

Less miles and in my opinion nicer wheels definitely easier to keep clean

Thanks for your response Barry.
Yes - i've seen this car. The car has definitely caught my eye, clean, love the colour and i think it has all options bar the tire pressure monitoring - which is not a big thing for me.. my only issue is the alloys: they are easy to clean - but i really really want one with the turbine alloys..
Shame really - and it has remote roof control as well! Ah well, i'll just keep looking!
Thanks again.

Don't get hung up on the remote roof. I have in my current SLK and my previous SLK and it's absolutely rubbish! You have to have the key virtually touching the door and at the right angle (it uses infra red not the radio transmitter of the locking) and it still stops two or three times as it's going up or down!
Used it twice and then gave up.
Agree about the turbine wheels though, they look great!

Yep forget the remote roof it's rubbish much better to fit a smart top, I have one fitted look it up on you tube.
We're the opposite I did not like the turbine wheels much preferred the five spokes in fact my brother has a SLK and would buy the five spokes off you.
I was all prepared to buy a car with turbines but I would of swapped them.
Wheels are easy to change, spec and condition of car is more important.

Hi Patrick,
Thank you for the email. The car looks really nice + all options, my only nagging issue is the alloys really.. Sounds really silly, but I really am after a car with the turbines. I just don't want to spend time looking to get a new set of wheels etc.
Thanks again for emailing me.

Hi Sal
No problem at all, overall condition / mileage / service history / spec etc was top of my list when I was looking at AMG 55's. I was like you and wanted turbine wheels until I found out about keeping them clean ! They do come up on flee bay, cant see any at the moment !
The SLK 55 is just a fantastic car and if my finances were up to keeping this along with the 430 I would. Being a PH bloke I take pride in my cars, I have had my SLK for 2 years so if you want any further info on the breed PM me. Best of luck with your search.

I too really wanted the turbine wheels when I was looking for my 55. Looking back now, I'm glad the car I got had the AMG 5 spokes instead. IMO, gives the car a more subtle cleaner look instead of the aggressive stance the turbine's give.
Big bonus is, you will see the 6pot calipers better and will be so much easier to clean.
