Ive spent over 2 years in //M land now and am moving out. Its been a hoot and a big learning curve both car wise and community diversity wise. Why is there no banter filled AMG section on here for the V6/V8 nuts?

The amount of traffic in the Mercedes section is minimal, an AMG section may be quite derelict!!! But good idea, I support it.

I think if there were an AMG forum the traffic would increase by a good measure. The MPower forum didn't just come off the shelf in the shape it is now. It would tidy up the Merc forum too. Withall the 55s, 63s and SLSs on the forum too there would be no shortage of contributors., not to mention the vintage and classic crowd.

Mods, it might be worth giving it a trial.

Im not convinced it would add a new dimension .
AMG owners tend to be Mercedes fans anyway , possibly differing from the BMW / M car relationship .
The AMG forum on the Mercedes owners club website has been dormant for 6 months or so without a single post .
Anyway , I could be wrong .

Will we then end up with an RS forum for Ford, STI section for Subaru, GTI/R section for VW? Renaultsport etc etc

Personally, I don`t see the point.

I don't think the Merc Forum is busy enough in its entirety to justify an AMG sub-section.

Was BMW busy before M came along?

I don`t see the point in having that either. Cant do it for every performance division of every manufacturer so why bother with one?

^^^ Because its easy to use and keeps the forums neat and tidy. Have you seen how busy the /MM forum is?

I think it would actually be less neat and tidy. You'll get a split of owners of the likes of a C220 cdi 'AMG Sport' posting in either the regular Merc or the AMG specific forum as so many modern Mercs have 'AMG' included in the title.

Then what about owners of other performance Mercs such as Brabus 'tuned' cars - where do they post?

Can't see the point other than to be a bit 'we're better than you we need our own sub-forum'! smile

Yep I have, the entire BMW/M/etc forums combined are not as busy as the single forum for the Monaro which in turn is half the size of the Porsche section and they manage as does every other make.

It makes no odds to me, just seems that it will end up spiralling out of control as almost every Marque has a performance division. It may keep that section tidier once you are in but have you seen how many marques and models etc are in the main "gassing station" section now? Just so many and continually being added to rather than being simplified.

I'd also be a fan of an AMG forum, having recently made the change from BMW M5 to CLK AMG. I used the M power forum on here a lot during my 4 year ownership of the BMW. Thumbs up from me.

I think the problem would be that the Mercedes forum as it is doesnt exactly get a lot of traffic.

That said if you do all bugger off someone let me know laugh

We need a Brabus forum too!

Seriously though, there isnt enough traffic on here as it is and Im not convinced that the amg / mercedes brand in general attracts the same type of forum surfing enthusiast as say m cars do.

Dont think there are any overly active uk based new merc forums?

Agreed! The MercBoard is a bit like the M5Board. Topped up with yanks and loads of middle eastern playboys. I just feel it could grow like the /MPower forum did on here.

Mbworld is pretty good for car specific stuff eg SL R230 AMG cars. But so much traffic is wheels and body kits, which some of which look pretty cool but are completely cost prohibitive and unusable on UK roads. The tuning information is staggering especially on the E55 forum, but even I find 500 bhp enough....
