replacement pads and discs - how much?
Discussion
booking my car in for a service. the car is a 2007 e class 220 cdi. looks like one of these (don't know the model number):

i have a service care plan so getting it main dealer serviced.
i need new brake pads and discs all round. dealer (hughes of beaconsfield) has quoted £432 for front pads and discs and £458 for rear pads and discs.
seems extremely high.
can anyone recommend a good garage in the berkshire / bucks area that can offer a more sensible price?

Ring Euro or CES car parts for discs and pads, or you should be able to get prices on line.i have a service care plan so getting it main dealer serviced.

This will give you a fair idea of costs.

I am in the same area as you. Recently we did the pads and disks all round for my wifes E270 W211. I bought the parts from Hughes and I got my mobile mechanic to fit. I think parts were something like £370 and Jason my mechanic fitted for under £160.
I can give you his contact details if you want. I have known Jason for about 4 years. He has done the servcing on both of our Mercs and on the E-class he has done front and rear shocks and alternator voltage regulator.

I recently had my 07 E220 done (It's a W211
) and I bought the pads and discs with sensors from MB after I asked for a trade discount. They worked out £8 more expensive than pattern parts and IMO one should never put any pattern brake parts on a Merc (particularly the E220 as I have been burnt in the past using Bosch parts.)
You could have a go at doing them yourself.
I can dig out the invoice if you like for an exact price.
