E350 CDI Coupe - Thoughts?

Hi Merc dudes,
Went out to buy a c class but stumbled upon a E350 coupe which just looked stunning!
My last merc was a sl55 but that was a while back.
What is the concensus on this car? Buy/Avoid?
Seems like a nice car overall, would be looking for one with Comand and memory seats, panoramic roof maybe. Any other must haves? Electric seats/heaters etc seem to be standard

I did EXACTLY the same last weekend!
Have bought an e350 cdi instead of the c250 I originally went for.....its got all the extras inc panoramic roof, command, disctronic etc etc - pic it up on Monday - from the test drive and initial impressions...i think i am going to like it...a lot!

I did something similar.. i was originally looking for C class coupe, went for test drive but couldn't agree a deal..
At the same time spotted a few good deals on new e-class coupe and went ahead with it..
I didnt get a e350cdi but went for a e250cdi and i must say i made the right choice!
Drives great and very economical?!
I would say go and test drive.. you wont be disappointed

If I wasn't getting a C63 AMG this year I'd have got an E350 CDI Coupe. I have a C250 CDI Coupe and when I was choosing I discounted the E class as too big. However, looking at it in comparison to the Saloon and Estate it looks less unwieldy and quite sleek so I think I should have got it instead. Should have looked at it properly. Sat in a Cabrio at Goodwood FOS and it felt lovely inside.
I have the cabrio version, albeit tweaked by Brabus (313 hp to keep up with BMW x35ds!). Very refined and quick for a diesel and still returns 40 mpg average with my lead foot.
I would say its great for long distances too but I find the seats a bit too hard and no matter how I try and adjust (and theres about 50 different adjustments possible) I cant get comfy and always end up with back ache!
Other than that, it eats tyres (rears last about 8-10k) and its been back twice to sort various trim rattles which are still not fixed...
Just wish they'd bring out a coupe / cabrio E63, the C is great but its not an E!

in fact the reverse is true...the E coupe and convertible are built on the C platform...Edited by Aeroresh on Friday 8th February 19:54
I have just bought one of these to replace my Range Rover Sport and have to say, I am liking it a lot.
It's a similar spec to what you're looking for - I was lucky to get a pre-facelift in exactly the spec and colour I wanted (Comand, Memory, Harman Kardon, Diamond White and Red Leather). Pre-facelift was key to getting the best part of £9k discount.
The car is immensely well built (it feels very tightly made) compared to the RRS, it's fast and very refined - the 4 cylinder diesels just don't compare to the V6 for smoothness and refinement (you barely recognise it as a diesel). The lack of wind noise at speed is particularly impressive.
Handling is solid and perfectly suited to our roads but it's no track car.....it focusses more on a smooth (and VERY quiet) ride quality.
Mine is averaging around 38mpg across varied driving, drops to around 30mpg in town and peaked at 55mpg on a recent 60 mile motorway trip driven at 70mph. If your driving focuses on urban stop-start, you'd probably get low 30mpg's, if it's more motorway biased, you'll probably be looking at low 40mpg's. From previous experience, this economy is around 15% worse than you get in the 4-cylinder 220/250 diesels, and IMO a small price worth paying for the increased refinement.
Your desired spec looks pretty much spot on - I'd say as long as it has Comand and Memory pack, you've got the most important bits. IMO, the Sport looks better an comes with the adaptive lights as standard (which are exceptional!), although unlike the SE, you only get Artico instead of real leather. If going for a Sport, the only other thing I'd try and source on top of what you've mentioned is one with real leather - it's just nicer than the fake stuff they give as standard!
