Oh my goodness! MPG C63
Discussion
So, the new car has been delayed another few days and I've been lent a 'demo' 63 whilst I wait.
I expected somewhere between 16 and 22 mpg from a full tank. It has been driven 'spiritedly' but, on road so within sensible limits (ish)!
Full tank lasted 100 miles only, the odometer is showing an average of 10.6 MPG, ouch!!
The car is great :-) only criticism is that, the beautiful noise can only really been heard when 'pressing on'. As its such a capable vehicle that means, 'you're speeding'!
My car is on a 2 year pcp so ...........how can I do an exhaust mod but put it back standard for 'hand back'?
Can anyone advise what options are on the market that fit OEM and allow me to put back to 100% standard/untraceable?
Thanks Gav
10.6mpg is low. You must have been driving it pretty hard. But hey, thats what its designed for. As Jazzer also knows, the V10 M5 can easily be taken down to single figures if driven briskly so yours is not unusual. I think you'll find when it comes to your own car that youll be driving it a bit more gently. Not only do you have fuel costs to think of but your rear tyres will defo be taking a beating if youre constantly pushing the full weight of that 6.2V8 through it. Drive it how you like, but i bet you'll be seeing north of 16mpg when it comes to your own motor, and you'll still be enjoying it.

As I said 'spirited' yes! Not fully throttle everywhere, just nearly everywhere. :-)
The reason though, honestly was to hear her bark. My logic is... If I hear her at lower revs I won't need to wind all the way round?!
The new car was great sounding but not' loud', mine will have only delivery miles so no doubt the same?
Exhaust modifications, I've heard of 'cat delete' but I believe that's permanent?
Rear silencer, do they do a direct replacement that allows all body work to remain untouched?
Are there any induction modifications that increase the sound level?
Cheers

I don't think anyone expects 'decent' economy, just that near single figures can surprise, the small fuel tank adds to the frequency at the pumps.
Hope you enjoy yours :-) with your attitude towards fuel and costs you are obviously a wealthy guy that really will enjoy the motor, they're fantastic as a daily 'sensible' car
