Good Day People. I've just bought a 1998 320SL. A bit different to my TVR Chimaeralaugh Seems to do as much with less drama laugh I have to say this forum doesn't seem to have so many techical posts? Perhaps indicating the reliability of the breed? Basically I'm after any pointers to parts suppliers, servicng hints, lubs' in fact any information to keep me up and running. The drivers handbooks, although detailed in certain areas is lacking in servicing info'. Thanks for any replies. Damm just missed a hardtop hoist on e-b**. Cheers J C.

If you're into doing your own maintenance, you'll find these cars surprisingly easy and conventional to work on.

You should learn how to use the Electronic Parts Catalogue. This is freely available from a Russian site.

You can team the EPC with the online catalogues from the quality parts manufacturers like Behr Hella, Bilstein, Febi Bilstein, Lemforder, Sachs-Boge, ZF et al.

Then you can buy parts online from the numerous discount motor factors, such as Wannapart and Seekpart24, to name but two, albeit you have to be careful to make sure you get the specified brands. This way you get quality German parts at reasonable prices.

If you join the Mercedes-Benz Club, you get free access to the proper EPC and through that the comprehensive Workshop Information System.

Thanks Ari & r129sl for the replies. Yes I,ve joined the Merc Club and finding my way around the EPC site. My future project is to make a hard top frame and hoist from drawings supplied on the Sommers site. Cheers. J C

MBClub UK is a good source of info, more traffic than here and some very knowledgeable people on there. Might be worth browsing for a while.
