Help Needed from C63 AMG Owners.

Good evening all.

I am looking for some help with a possible purchase.

I am looking at getting a C63 AMG for me and my wife in place of my current Alfa 159Ti. I am aware of the low MPG figures and the general costs of running such a car, but, using man maths, I think it is possible.

I plan on getting a cheap diesel for my 70 mile commute each day, while my wife uses the C63 for her 10 mile commute. I will then use the C63 at weekends, apart from days when we will use our mk1 Golf. so all in all, the C63 should only cover 4-5k miles a year.

I am currently looking at 2 cars. A 2012 Coupe with 5k on the clock in a dark blue, no PPP and a 2009 Saloon with 25k on the clock, with the PPP. Obviously, there is a large price difference between the 2 cars, but I have some questions that hopefully people can answer in order to help me choose.

Is the PPP worth having for a car that will never be tracked?

I know the 2012 Coupe will blip on a down shift, is this very important? As I believe the earlier car wont do this?

Are there any issues with earlier cars I should be aware of?

Doing 10 miles a day - Will this be an issue? I intend on using the car for my commute once a week to give it a run.

Apart from the face lift, dash and blipping throttle, was anything else changed on the newer model?

Is there anything I NEED to know before purchasing, or need to look for on a test drive?

Both cars are at good dealers and both are in great condition, and I am not fussed about body style.
But my wife is really interested in the exhaust note so is there any difference between the two?

Yes! In my opinion. The standard one is indeed very quick, but it wont blow your mind. The PP+ extras do make that difference. They are subtle, but the difference is there.

My 2010 (60 plate) PP+ is a pre facelift car and it does blip the throttle when in Sport and Manual mode, but not when in Comfort. Im not sure if there were software updates for pre facelift cars that enabled this in certain modes but mine certainly does blip in the same way my E61 M5 did.

Not really, they are pretty solid. Just remember that these forums will only show the bad stuff. How many owners out there with zero issues that dont say anything???? The only issue i can think of, other than the rattly bits of trim on earlier cars, is the bad batch of engines that went out in 08/09. Other than that, no.

Its quite quick to warm up so 10 miles is just about ok, but no less. Give it a good run once and week and that should help.

I would recommend going for a facelift version. Better interior, new gearbox etc. have you checked out the offers on new builds?
