Hi, I've just bought a 320SL. Although the comprehensive owners handbook gives details of interior/external points it's lacking in general lubrication grades. Engine, oil grades not a problem. Is Dexron 3 for the auto gearbox/power steering and 75w90 fully synethic gear oil for the diff' OK? Also the service booklet is nearly full of stamps. Is there a suitable replacement servicing book available? Thanks for any relies. John C

Only use transmission fluid from Merc.

Less certain about the diff. I'll have a look.

Replacement service book should be available from the dealer. I'm almost on my third!

Why only use Merc fluid? There are plenty of aftermarket alternatives that carry the Merc spec, usually.

Not for the automatie gearbox, I believe there is a Shell equivalent.

Thanks for the replies. An independant garage has indicated that Dexron 3, which I believe is GM specification is satisfactory for the gearbox of my vehicle, as is 75w/90 (Providing it's synethic) for the diff. Also good news about replacement servicing books. Again thanks for the replies. John C.
