New to forum and looking for some advice re a CL500 I have put a deposit on.
Car is a 2006 model with genuine 6400 miles from new...full history and well equipped. I'm planning to go see the car on Saturday and would be grateful for some advice on what I should be looking for.
Any help or advice appreciated.

If so, have a read here. I had a CL55 AMG, but for the most part the same sort of checks can accomodate all the W215s.

The first thing on my mind would be, why is the mileage so low? Seems extraordinary, given that it's 6/7 years old.

I'm reliably informed that the car was a ' Sunday ' toy....a rather expensive toy, and was owned by a Mercedes enthusiast.
I've a friend who works with Mercedes and who will obtain printouts of services and any work done but all the checks I've done so far point to a well looked after and immaculate conditioned car with genuine mileage.
The proof will be in the pudding so to speak and all will be revealed on Saturday when I examine the car...here's hoping!!

Just an update on my checks so far...spoke to friend at Mercedes who pulled the service record for me. It has only had one service , done by Mercedes in 2010. No warranty claims or repairs, which I suppose is unsurprising given the mileage covered.
Not sure how the servicing will be classed though, with only 6400 miles from new don't imagine it will have needed serviced, just a service check, annually, but not sure if it will still be classed as having full MBSH?

The cars call for a service themselves. When the do so is determined by a combination of time, distance, fuel usage and number of engine starts.
The car's service record book will or should indicate whether the single service was carried out on time or was overdue.
The servicing sounds light to me but I don't suppose it is the end of the world if the mileage is genuine. If I were flush enough to purchase a CL500 brand new and then not use it other than as a toy, I think I'd be flush enough to have it serviced every year regardless of mileage. And if I were you, and the car checked out and I bought it, I'd have a very full recommissioning service carried out.

Wasn't told that by merc...didnt realise that the cars let you know when the service is due.
I quite agree with your comments re having it serviced regardless...the problem I foresee will come when it's time to move the car on and it is then not classed as having a full MBSH...I'm sure it would adversely effect the resale value
The dealer is intending servicing the car before I take it, if indeed I do take it. The deposit was merely to hold if for me subject to inspection and is refundable.
Having read a lot of the posts on here is is just concerning some of the issues that have been experienced and the costs involved to repair these faults...sometimes the forums put the fear of god into you when thinking of a car!! Lol

Well, they don't like standing still, that is for sure. But I'd expect it to be OK and if you're buying from a dealer there may be a warranty.

Had one for 8 months, loved the build quality (2006 / 40k) CL500, nice place to be and such a lovely older world charm.

Door seat switches are fragile and they can get a bit rusty - tip change the glass slide rubbers (ones that stop water running into the door)

Went to see it today and I can honestly say it is a stunning and immaculately looked after car!
I took my printout of things to look out for and check and it passed with flying colours so I'm very pleased and will pick the car up next Saturday.
