C63 Front Discs PP+ vs Non PP+

Am i right in thinking the only difference between the PP+ Composites and the regular C63 steel front discs is about £600 each corner and a little bit of weight loss? Am i only going to see the benefits of this technology on a track, which i'll never visit?

Ive been told the standard C63 fronts will fit the PP+ callipers fine and do the job of enthusiastic road work just as well too. Is this true?

Reason i ask is, at £700 a side i might take the composites off and fit regular C63 discs until resale time when i'll put the comps back on. Theyve only done 11k so very little wear thus far.

As far as I heard they were NOT interchangeable.

That was on a 2008 car, so if yours in post 2010, it might be different?

I looked into front disc & pad prices for CLS63. It would have been almost £2000 w/o performance pack. Luckily for me, the warning light was a damaged sensor and, when measured, the discs have loads of life left.

I don't see how a C63 can be so much cheaper, unless you are talking about aftermarket copies.

Nope, geniune items. Its a known fact that the PP+ composite discs are circa £700 each and the fronts will cost around £2000 for a full refit of pads and discs. However, its also well documented that standard C63 discs are around £600 to have fitted along with pads at a dealer. I just want to know if the Compo discs are a necessity for road driving. The rears are the same as other C63's btw.

Probably not "necessary" but not much about the C63 is

The composite discs (floating steel rotor with aluminium bell housing) lowers the unsprung mass and have better heat dissipation and less tendency to warp. I have no experience with the non PP+ brakes but the PP+ brakes seem endlessly strong. It's not a light car so I reckon you need all the help you can get
