Hi chaps
I'm having a water leak in my 230te. A very damp patch, in fact more of a puddle, is appearing under the rear seat base of the 230TE. Sometimes just the drivers side, but sometimes both sides. I've thoroughly dried out the area but it's happened again.
Where could it be coming from and what can I do about it?

When my coupe's passenger footwell flooded, it turned out to be a blocked drainage hole. Could be this causing your problems.
I took out as much carpet as I could to ensure it was completely dried out properly and have my Indy now regular check all the drainage points.
If not that, then I guess you are it could be door and window seal problems.
Or perhaps even rust in the floor under the seats?

There are loads of forum topics scattered round the internet about this, 124 estates leak a fair amount.
The drains are a good thing to check first as was suggested. Sometimes they can be cleared with strimmer line.
It's quite hard sometimes to tell where the water came in from where it ends up, the water evaporates during a summy day circulates round the car, condenses and drips down later. Probably depends a bit on the gradient where you park it.
It's well documented that the rear side windows leak, mine were a bit leaky when I got the car a couple of years ago. I ran my finger round under the seal from the outside and cleaned out some crud, which seems to have helped a lot. They say, best to remove the windows, sort any rust and refit if this is a big problem area.
Most recently on mine a lot of water was getting in through the tailgate rubber, the carpet ridge at the bottom of the tailgate interior trim was getting soaked through every time it rained. I had that replaced a month or so ago (I think list price on the part was about £60) - just waiting for a good dry spell to get the car properly dried out and see if it's mostly sorted now. I am a bit fed up of scraping the ice off the inside of the windscreen!
I'm sorry non of this is about rear seat base water specifically, I've not had that one yet or read about it, only that water does migrate around the car.
