C63 buying advice needed

Hi all,

I'm looking to buy a C63 saloon, in black. Im at the early stages of doing my research etc into the car.
I'm going to buy second hand. Is it worth paying extra for the facelift version?

What are the most desirable options to look out for?

Apart from here and autotrader is there anywhere else i should be looking? I'd rather buy one which is under warranty.

The facelift did introduce some significant changes, the major ones being the new interior, MCT transmission and revised suspension.

Will i notice a difference in the ways the two cars drive?
Also i have seen some cars with a carbon fibre backing to the front seats...I think this looks great...What option was this?

The carbon fibre are a retrofit. You can order a c/f interior and exterior option but it does not cover the seats. Defo go for a facelift version.

I was looking for a pre owned. I drove old and new and I think the new is a nicer car to spend time and looks a lot better inside. I think the outside bodywork is probably better on the older models but it is more than offset by the better interior and better gearbox.
Having said that both are fantastic and of course there is a large financial difference to consider. A really good older car is still fantastic IMO and of course they both sound awesome.
Whatever you get you will love and there seems a reasonable choice out there so enjoy looking.

I think i may opt for the pre face lift...So 2009 model more than likely.

Are there any must have options to look out for on these apart from the performance pack?

The LSD is a much talked up item by those who specced it. But, those of us without it have yet to see where it would be of benefit other than at the limit on a track. The electrical gubbins that replace the diff in the non-LSD cars are more than adequate at controlling the rear wheels and ive yet to experience a one-wheel spin without it. Drive a good few cars with and without and make your decision based on that.

As for PP. I have the PP+ (30bhp increase(which is more like 50bhp by other owners RR tests)) and its night and day versus the 451bhp engine. Both engines produce very quick cars but as many an owner will vouch the differences are there.

Shop around and push for a bargain.

Also been looking at the classifieds here and on auto trader, but there is nothing that is jumping out!

On the Merc site the PP+ cars have AMG Performance Package specced in the 'Features' box. Then, in the bit thats marked 'Additional Features' you will see AMG Performance Package Plus.


Take this car for example. It says 457bhp but thats a default entry.

The main distinguishing feature of PP+ cars is the red callipers front and rear and a carbon boot lip.

i have got some figures on lease deals, please see below, just wondered if you have had any better deals and if so could be be kind enough to pass these on.
they are all based on 3+35
10,000 miles £1790.07 net plus £596.69 net per month
15,000 miles £1907.82 net plus £635.94 net per month
20,000 miles £2027.07 net plus £675.69 net per month.

I'm paying 6+23 @ £527p/m for 10k from Freedom Contracts. Your deal looks slighly cheaper overall but I'd expect that for a 36 month deal over a 24 month. We're talking less than a tenner a month difference though.

I depends on how long you want the car for, whether you want a new one and whether you want to guard against depreciation. I think the current lease deals are a steal (same for the BMW M3 too) compared to the likely depreciation of the car, they equate to quite a sizeable discount.

Freedom are probably one of the best in the country as they're owned by a big dealer group! I'm probably not allowed to give away exact details on here, but I'm based on the South Coast.
