The prices of used E Class coupes have dropped to where I can afford one.

Can anyone here advise if they're any good - how do they drive compared to a W211 or C209 (cars I've had previously). Are there any (diesel) engines to go for / avoid? The 250CDI seems a great engine but is the 350 better?

I've had the e250cdi for 6months and its been great!
Economy wise I can get 50+mpg on a long motorway run. And upto 40mpg around town
In terms of power it's plenty of grunt for overtaking and motorway driving is effortless.
I would definitely recommend getting one!

They are both overall brilliant cars. If the extra power of the 350 isn't essesntial the economy of the 250 would take it for me. As above, 50MPG on the motorway is realistic and they don't feel under powered if that was a concern.

Thanks for the replies. The power is not a huge issue - I was more concerned about driving 'feel'. I know they're never going to match BMW or Porsche but is there any fun around the twisties / B-Roads?

I ran them in various guises for 2 years or so. For me the best drive was the 350cdi on 18" wheels (although the 19's look great), plenty of fun to be had and fast enough to keep up with most things - especially after they introduced the power increase.

Great cars IMO, I would recommend one.

I have a C Class coupe with the 250CDI engine and my old man has a CLS with the 350 CDI. Both are great, the 350CDI is more refined (250CDI is rather tractor like on start up) but unless you really want the extra power the 250CDI will do very well, gets significantly better fuel economy and has more than enough poke for overtaking.
