Very Eager Rain Sensitive Wipers
Discussion
As per title really, they seem to be on steroids almost as if they are trying to get inside the car. I will check the area where the sensor is is clean as that can cause extra wipes if dirty and I have ordered a new set of high quality blades. However, has anyone else had the same issue? Only other thing I can think of is to pull the sensor plug and disable them!

I've google'd star and can't see anything where they can adjust though??
I did the same and there are plenty of threads from the UK ans US where people suggest getting the sensitivity adjusted but I couldn't (in a brief search) find one that said it had been done and worked. Dealers seem to typically say "they all do that, sir" and then fit a new sensor if pushed.Mine has auto lights but not auto wipers and I was a but miffed at first, on my last car they worked perfectly - but you see so many comments that they don't work effectively on MBs that I'm not bothered now.

Well, FWIW the auto wipers never worked properly on my BMW either. And, as you say there seems to be no easy fix. Even changing the sensor on mine (which meant a windscreen change) didn't work.I'd go for a manual intermittent wipe switch every time now. At least its easy to sort if it goes wrong.
Mine was Peugeot and they worked completely perfectly - on several cars, so it wasn't a one-off. Indeed, they even defaulted to off on stopping the engine so you don't get the irritating wipe across a near-dry or frozen screen that many systems do on start-up.
My missus has a Honda and that has sensitivity adjustment on the wiper stalk in 6 steps but it's still impossible to find a setting that's just right.
