Hi all,

Just wondered if anyone knows whether SL55 front struts can be repaired when they're leaking very slightly?

I had the steering rack reconditioned for less than 200 quid on mine, which was more than 10 times less than the dealer wanted. So I thought perhaps someone remanufactures struts too, rather than pay the dealer for new.

Any info appreciated smile

Arnott (spelling!) is the only place that will refurb struts. They are based in the US of A but deal with the UK. Google them and be amazed at the savings they offer.

I also found this German company on ebay a while back http://stores.ebay.de/exclusivautomobile-de/Federb...

I didn't use them in the end so cannot comment on quality of work etc, but may be worth checking out.

My friend is working on a UK based solution at the moment. He's very busy at the moment and hasn't had time to fit it in, so the solution won't be imminent.. There are several SL55s breaking on eBay, so a replacement could be found there.

I think they just do the bushes, not the struts.

Your thinking about the guys who repair the ball joints, they don't do strut repairs persay. Arnott are the only ones I know off after looking around allot last year.
