Almost pushed the button on a C63 Estate for the other half today, does anyone on here have a dog cage that takes half of the boot and can point me in the right direction?

Subject to this, I reckon I can convince her it's the right car for lugging her four legged friend around

I've had custom cages made for my past 3 cars. RS6 Avant, M5 Tourer and the wifes Volvo V50. The company I use is called 'hamster baskets'. Their catch line is: if you can sketch it, we can make it. They can do a full boot job, half boot, full boot with compartments etc. The cages are excellent quality and do not squeak or rattle as they are held together by springs and are plasticoated. Google 'hamster baskets dog pod' and you'll find thier site.

Perfect, thanks for your help.

Fingers crossed this means a new toy coming our way.

Hopefully she buys my story that 18,000 miles per annum in an AMG won't be ruinous.

In my E calss I went for an extra large single safedog cage as I wanted 2/3 of the boot taken up to fit mine in. They do various sizes. The cages all expand/contract for length and they are very sturdy (and crash tested). They are a lot chepaer than a custom solution.

Thanks gents, I'll check out all of these options. Ideally we're looking for a half cage that will stay in the car permanently so the dog doesn't get flung around.

Assuming we can get the right price tomorrow hopefully we'll be the proud owners of a C63 Estate...

Here's what you want http://www.travall.co.uk/2007-5-door-estate-c-clas...

I have the same system in my Disco3 and it is perfect. No rattles!

Congrats on the car. If you are interested in the safedog cages, then if you can get to Westerham, they will let you try it in your car (call them first though).

Does anyone happen to know the dimension from the base of the rear seats to the tailgate on a C63 estate in inches?

Thanks, apparently I need 36/37 inches in length for the cage to fit.....if not the other half isn't going to be impressed as the whole point of the new car was to better accomodate the dog
