Very close to ordering a specced up M135i.

Would love to consider the AMG and spec it up on the UK configurator. Have a feeling it might be too dear.

It's on the German configurator allready at 49,500 Euros basic, which does not bode well.

I'm hoping that a lightly specced one is within my reach and the right side of 40K!

The A 45 AMG over the BMW M 135i xDrive and Audi S3:

The Mercedes-Benz A 45 AMG is far more than a sporty compact car. It is AMG through and through. Engine, transmission, chassis and suspension have been developed by AMG from the outset and do not derive from the modular system for the series production models. The vehicle on which it is based – the A-Class – is among the most agile 5-door models in its own right. The fact that the A 45 AMG is not just a compact car with high-end engine technology and a sports package is immediately apparent on the outside, with details in matt titanium grey such as the AMG radiator grille with twin fin, AMG rear apron in diffuser look and the sound of an AMG sports exhaust system with exhaust flap. The A 45 AMG takes pole position wherever it roams – on the race track, in the country and on the motorway.

– The AMG 2.0-litre R4 turbo engine rated at 265 kW (360 hp) and 450 Nm is not only the world's most powerful 4-cylinder production engine but also boasts the highest power density (181 hp) of all series-produced engines. Developed specifically for the A 45 AMG, it already meets the future Euro 6 standard today and runs on 6.9 l of fuel per 100 km (NEDC, CO2: 161 g/km), making it best-in-segment when it comes to efficiency.

– The AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed sports transmission offers authentic racing performance, with double declutching during downshifting, RACE START function (in driving modes S and M) and temporary ignition cut-off during upshifts. The AMG Drive Unit is intuitive and shapes the character of the thoroughly sporty cockpit.

– 4MATIC all-wheel drive with particularly agile setup, developed especially for MFA vehicles by AMG, with electrohydraulically operated multi-disk clutch and up to 50 percent power distribution to rear axle in the interests of dynamic performance. Very minimal additional weight at 70 kg.

– The components developed by AMG especially for the A 45 AMG , such as axles, AMG sports steering, AMG cooling with wheel-arch cooler, AMG high-performance brake system, ensure that the A 45 AMG delivers on the race track the sporty credentials that it promises on the road.

I was looking for reviews of this, last week. As far as i could see, there haven't been any road tests? Any idea when they might be in the press?

Great to see some details and pricing, I would actually be happy with a bog standard car which makes a change.

Is there any indication on PCP deals yet?

Had my name down for the first info on this when it became available....dealer rang me this morning.

Basic car £37850.

£5995 deposit and £499 monthly for 36 months based on 10k per annum. He didn't say but probably 10p per mile penalty.

They said its not just as cheap as they were hoping but not bad. For pcp purchasers the thorn is c63's which are £6k in and £599 pm before negotiation. The only other consideration is that the a45 will be a lot cheaper to run.

Looking forward to a test drive.

Ouch, makes it pretty uncompetitive against the M135i at a glance.

Assuming the rate is 5.5% APR then the retained value is about £18k, those figures are presumably before any sort of a discount so if 10% were achievable that would come out at closer to £400 p/m.

If its any good of course it could then be a decision between a year old M135i bought largely with cash of a PCP'd A45, ho hum.

Am I right in thinking there are two sports seats in the back, with another small seat in between? My wife is looking at this, but needs to get 4 kids in...

Been to AMG centre today

MB are offering zero discounts across the network on these cars and that includes extras, or so I am told

That said the PCP offered to me was not the worst deal ever and the sales guy said that there may be discounts to come as per usual MB offers

First cars are due in dealers towards the end of June / early July

I will be test driving once the cars arrive, then I can finally decide between A45 and M135
