Have been offered the following from a main dealer:

Silver SL 350
AMG styling
Unregistered
8 miles on the clock
Park Assist, AIRSCARF heating, panoramic sunroof
Black interior
£81,000 list price

Offered at £15,000 deposit and then 36 monthly payments of £525 (includes the monthly payment towards annual service), annual mileage limit of 10k. Balloon payment £34,000

I intend to hand the car back at the end of the 3 years and walk away.

The car is apparently a cancelled order and to get a quick sale before the end of the month, the dealer has added £11,000 of their own on top of the deposit to get the car sold now before the refresh in July which will include all the options above as standard (apart from the airscarf)

I'm very tempted as it's a car me and the missus have wanted for a while and the monthly payments and deposit are both very affordable for us and I'm happy to pay the equivalent of £11k a year for 3 years to drive a new £80k car all servicing included.

Anyone have any comments on this offer?

£34k to borrow a car for three years? How the other half live!

If I could afford that then I'd be looking at the 0% finance deals on the M3, M5 or M6 instead. But fair play to you if you're happy with it and want the car then it's a decent discount on offer.

Its a no better deal then any dealer is offering at the moment, firstly the numbers don't add up if I'm reading it correctly and MB are running a promotion on this model anyway. according to your figures

Deposit 15,000
Dealer contribution 11,000
36 x 525 = 18,900
Final Payment 34,000
Total 78,900

If the car is 81,000 there is a shortfall of 2,100 and thats without any interest added.

The other point is Mercedes are currently running a promotion and if you are taking finance the dealer contribution is £11,481 and interest is 2.4 APR and you should be able to negotiate some additional discount on top of the £11,481 dealer contribution. Take a look on the MB website

There is also a good deal on the SL63 if you have a look on the MB website, and if you negotiate some discount as well you can bring the payments down to about £650 per month with a 17k deposit and that a 110k car, I was offered this deal a few weeks ago.
