CLK 55 AMG Offside Front Knocking!
Discussion
Hi All
I'm new to this forum as I usually reside in the TVR Cerbera section.
A friend of mine has a CLK 55 AMG cabriolet.
For a while now he has been plagued by a knocking noise that seems to be coming from the offside front of the car, clearly audible when driving. It's not all the time but it's still driving him nuts.
He's had the drop links, wishbones and brake calipers looked at but nothing is standing out. The noise does not seem affected by turning either.
Could anyone shed any light on this noise and what it might be?
Kind regards
Simon

Could be the front anti roll bar mounting rubbers that hold the roll bar in place. They only need a slight bit of wear & the roll bar will move causing a dull knocking noise especially when travelling over bumpy surfaces.
Best thing to do is get it on a 4 poster ramp & then pull & push all suspension joints feeling for wear. At least by doing it this way the vehicle is sitting on its own weight & you should be able to find the culprit.
