c63 trackdays

Hi,

Has anyone on here done trackdays in their C63?

I do like to take my cars on trackdays, currently in a e92 M3 and have done a few trackdays in that - very impressive car. I have a c63 on order and definitely would want to take it on track - anyone else tracked a c63 and if so how does it hold up?

The M3 is razor sharp and after test driving the C63 Coupe I thought it handled well enough but was pretty much won over by the noise, basically.

Well as no one else has commented, I had a go in a C63 coupe and E63 saloon at mercedes world on the little track they have there. And the C63 handled incredibly well, it was really well balanced and a lot better than the E63. I agree with you about the sound, I hope to get one just based on the awesome sound in a few years!

Not myself but a chap did bring a saloon one to a TD I did in my Exige. He was having fun and it went well but he needed to go home slowly at lunchtime as it had utterly destroyed its (oddly) front tyres.

This was at Llandow which has one big stop and is moderately abrasive. Other people there in maseratis (it was a Maserati forum day) and other non trackday tailored stuff were fine.

I tracked my PPP estate a few times at Goodwood - happily kept up with, or kept at bay M3s and was good fun. Plenty quick enough to hold off a GT3 in a straight line too.

The brakes are what take a beating as it is a heavy car and Goodwood is a fast circuit. The composites in the PPP need to be looked after but are generally up to the job if you are not crazy.

I never had a problem with tyres (Pilot Supersports) but I think it is more poor technique that shreds tyres, but maybe the LSD helped.

Have done a Track Day in my C63 sedan. I will preface my commments by saying my main aim was to get to know the car in an environment for which it was designed rather than try to set lap records. At track speeds there was so much going on (for me at least) that i did not really notice what cars i was keeping up with etc (the track day I did was pretty strictly controlled, you were told to pull over pretty much as soon as a faster car got within sight of you, and vice versa).
The C63 handles it well. I had been told by another C63 owner to allow some "warm down" time every few laps to stop the gearbox getting hot and bothered and they seemed to do the trick.
The front tyres cop a beating. I pretty much finished off my fronts on the track day - maybe they only had 30-40% tread left when I started but they were pretty much shot by the end of it. Rears were OK really but I was not doing burnouts/drifting etc! Re the brake pads, at a quick inspection they seemed to not be too bad but then I was not really doing lots of heavy braking.
Make sure you have a full tank of fuel - my trip computer was showing fuel consumption of 40L/100km at one stage!!
