Hi
I'd love to get a later SLK - my current 1999 230 K is great
and does the work run with ease.

It would be nice to get a later model with revised body design which looks good so I suppose it will be from 2005 ?
The question is what is the best version/engine size to go for is the SLK200 got enough go !
Are the bigger V6 versions a liabilty or are they bullet proof !!
Cheers
Steve

Ran a 54 plate SLK350 - engine is bulletproof, gearbox was excellent and the MPG was good for type of car.

Would have one again in a heartbeat.

Had no issues what so ever in 2 years and the Merc servicing was cheaper than i was expecting.

Wife has tried a 280 and that was also a very good car - not sure if its in the cheaper tax band?

I have just bought this and cannot recommend it highly enough. It is pretty rapid.

great replys thanks
I will be looking at the cheap end of the market but so far the 280 would seem the best option I don't think I could stretch to a 350 and certainly not the AMG !!
unfortunately.
cheers

I had a 1998 SLK230. Good car, well looked after, pampered, waxed polished a lot, driven not enough....then someone ran into me at a roundabout. After the insurance paid out, we looked long and hard for our ideal replacement, then along came the 07 plate Benetoite blue SLK280, with balck leather interior. It is fast enough for what it is, makes a great sound and so far I can't fault it. The 350's we tried were faster, but the 280 is ample. The 200k wasn't as quick as our old 230. You'll know when you find the right car. We agonized over spec's - command, no command, electric memory seats, wheel size etc etc. It was the colour combo that sold us in the end. Only caution is that my 07 plate is heavy on the tax....something to do with the year and the size of the tyres and the CO2 emissions. Something to watch: 05/55 I think are in the lower tax brackets....

The 280 has a 3L V6 and 0-60 in 6.2 secs, so plenty quick on our roads. Makes a lovely sounds, esp if you get the sports package.

I've had a 58 plate for over 2 yrs with only 11,000 miles on it and it is great fun to drive, with a great exhaust note.

Not used a drop of oil and cost me nothing but routine servicing.
